Dolly Shirt-Jac by Freddies of Pinewood.
The 1940s workwear style Dolly Shirt-Jac from Freddies of Pinewood has been a staple in my wardrobe since I purchased it in June 2019. The thick, slightly weighty fabric makes it perfect for those in-between / mild with crisp breezes days of Autumn and Spring. In Winter I wear a high-neck wool knit underneath the jacket to keep me nice and toasty. On milder summer days I can wear it as a loose-fitting sun safe blouse with a pair of era appropriate shorts like my 30s Pleated Shorts for a relaxed casual look.
The photo below most accurately represents the colours in the check pattern of this jacket, though the grey has a slightly bluer tinge than this image.
I ordered this jacket in a size up from my Work Blouse size to allow for layers to be worn underneath. I am a size 8 in the Work Blouses and they sit snug on my waist, so I’m super glad I opted for the size 10: there’s plenty of room for comfort with thick layers underneath, but it’s not so large that I can’t wear it on its own as a blouse. Freddies of Pinewood are doing a new release of this jacket over Europe’s Autumn / Winter months, so keep an eye on their social media pages and website to see when it becomes available. The jacket I own may differ from the new release version, so be sure to check with the lovely team at Freddies if you have any queries.
