40s Style Shirt Blouse in ivory crepe and soft coral by The House of Foxy

If you’re just starting out on your vintage journey and feel like the 1940s are your thing, allow me to introduce you to your essential 1940s wardrobe staple: the 40s Style Shirt Blouse. Soft, billowy crepe with authentic looking buttons and the large, angular collar popular at the time, these blouses are the perfect start to your 40s outfits. Very versatile, comfortable, unrestrictive and undeniably flattering, I really cannot recommend these highly enough.

I currently own two colour options – the ivory and soft coral – and am waiting for The House of Foxy to release a new round of colours, as they are currently not in stock in this short sleeve version. In the meantime, HoF has a range of other 1940s blouse options, and if your heart is set on this particular short sleeve piece, you can still find them pre-loved (check out this blog post if you’re not sure where). Here’s hoping they return!

As the Katharine Trousers are my beginners pick for pants when starting a vintage wardrobe, the 40s Style Shirt Blouse is my beginners pick for tops. Wear them together and you have a smashing 1940s outfit that will make you look, and more importantly feel, fantastic!

For fellow Australians, you can currently find 1940s style blouses by The House of Foxy on Melbourne-based vintage darling Valerie’s boutique Call Me Valerie.
