That Same Old Favourite Blouse in cream white floral by Emmy Design Sweden.
Finally I am getting opportunities to wear pieces I have owned for a number of seasons but have been unable to wear out in the world! My ‘That Same Old Favourite Blouse’ (with the US spelling ‘Favorite’, yes I know…) is one of those items I’ve been gazing longingly at for well over a year, waiting for the day I could throw it on with a pair of 1930s sports shorts and go for a stroll along a boardwalk off the Great Ocean Road, ice cream in hand. While that particular adventure is still a little wait away, I did pair this blouse with my Spring friendly Miss Fancy Pants trousers for a Brunetti visit and picnic in the Treasury Gardens.
This particular blouse is from Emmy’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection, and was released in cream and navy colour options in a luxuriously soft, lightweight viscose crepe made in Germany. The delicate floral print is a reproduction of an original 1930s dress print in Emmy’s personal true vintage wardrobe. The creamy shade warms up my Pasty Sick Girl skin tone, and with the burnt orange, blue, green and golden yellow of the florals, it suits a warm, earthy Australian summer aesthetic well.
This is an elegant, practical and authentic 1940s office workwear style blouse with the strong angular Hollywood collar that I love, and darts gently nipping the blouse in at the waist for a flattering fit. It will pair beautifully one of the AW21 Jazzy A-Line Skirts, Vivien of Holloway’s Katharine Trousers, Whirlaway Skirts and 30s Pleated Shorts in summer. Personally, I love this Aussie outback summer feel of these Miss Fancy Pants trousers in speckled brown, with a pair of Charlie Stone two-tone espresso / beige flats to complete the look.
The Same Old Favourite blouse is often brought back in new season fabrics and prints, and you can currently (Nov 21) find twelve other prints in stock on their website here. Currently, this cream print is no longer in stock on the Emmy website, so if your heart is set on this specific design I’d recommend having a look at the Emmy Design Sweden buy swap sell groups listed in this blog post for all the pre-loved Emmy goodies from fellow vintage dames! Make sure you read the measurements of the individual garment closely, as this particular fabric does experience a fair amount of shrinkage when washed. I am wearing a Size 34 with minor shrinkage and my usual Emmy size is a 36.
