Spellbound Blouse in brown stripe by Freddies of Pinewood.
These Spellbounds can be found in just about every imaginable colour and pattern, in a variety of fabrics. This particular colourway is stiffer than other Freddies Spellbounds and the House of Foxy long sleeved blouses, and holds its dramatic ‘puffed’ appearance rather than draping over your figure. This could definitely look a little more 1980s than 1940s depending on how you style it, and I tend to stick to pairing it with reproduction Freddies dungarees, Vivien of Holloway Katherine Trousers or House of Foxy Whirlaway skirts to make the look more recognisably 1940s.
It features a cute double button detail on the front – one button is practical, the second is decorative, which my dexterity issues greatly appreciate!
When I purchased this, they had run out of my usual Size 8, but I love the oversized, extra loose fit of the Size 10. In hindsight, the Size 8 might also have been too short in the arms.
Update: Spellbound Blouses, along with other Freddies of Pinewood items, are now stocked in Australia by reproduction vintage boutique Call Me Valerie, and you can find her Freddies range here.
