Cable Knit Slipover in cream by The Seamstress of Bloomsbury from Call Me Valerie.
An essential winter layering option for the vintage style enthusiast, this cute and cosy cable knit in an era-authentic vegan ‘Orlon’ fibre comes in a range of signature colours of Seamstress of Bloomsbury separates – this gorgeous cream, forest green, navy, pink lemonade and powder blue. Unlike other reproduction knit vests available, these are block colour options, making them perfect for wearing over patterned blouses and busy prints as well as staple block-colour separates, ensuring they’ll get plenty of wear in my wardrobe.
The slipover is designed to compliment a high-waisted outfit, with the top of the waist band sitting right where the high waist of my 40s style Katharine Trousers sit. The texture of this knit is not what I would call soft to the touch, and does feel synthetic, but it isn’t coarse like the natural wool texture of the House of Foxy 40s Fairisle Tanks. As a more affordable reproduction knitwear option, I really love its versatility. It will work beautifully with both workwear styles – dungarees, pinafore trousers, and work blouses – as well as dressier looks.
I ordered this knit slipover from the darling Valerie at Melbourne vintage boutique Call Me Valerie, and you can find Valerie’s range of reproduction knitwear here.
